This section shares extensive information on the various types of contraceptives and their risks.
Note:In scrutinizing many of the pamphlets and sites on this subject, it was difficult to find one source that gave all essential information, and many of the sources created for teens and young adults were too superficial. Because most of you typically do not have much time to do in-depth research, it was decided to do it for you. So the research conducted included medical journals, books, white papers, and government agency health sites.
Information was compiled and consolidated to deliver the bottom-line "key" information you should have to make important decisions about your birth control choices as opposed to giving just a list or overloading you with too much trivia information. It is hoped that we struck a good compromise.
If you are in a pregnancy crisis situation, you might still want to make a mental note to read this section at a more convenient time, when you are under less stress and after you have made a decision. This section will help you to understand how you became pregnant (though you might have been on the pill or been using another form of contraception), and also to do safer birth control planning for your future.
The Truth About Contraception
1) The Pill -- Causes Chemical Abortions (No Symptoms)
Is contraception the attempt to keep sperm from fertilizing eggs? Yes, but this is only partially true. The pill and other contraceptive devices --that provide the same anti-birth chemicals as the pill --first act to prevent ovulation (that is, to prevent the sperm from meeting the egg and fertilizing it). But, sometimes they do not work. Instead, the sperm meets the egg (moment of conception), and a new human is formed. Normally, the new human embryo would implant in the uterus which had been readied by the body's hormones. There, the embryo would get the nutrition it needs to continue to divide and grow. But, in the presence of the chemicals provided by the pill, the embryo would be prevented from implanting. The result is, it will die. This process is called a chemical abortion and it often happens without a women knowing it -- no symptoms. The pill and other contraceptives that kill a new human embryo in this way are called abortifacients. For more information on this, see this great Life Site News article.
This is killing
on a large scale.
Do you want to continue to participate in this?
The American Life League computed the following estimates for chemical abortions alone, from 1973 to 2003:
During this period, approximately 6,605,000 to 11,725,000 chemical abortions occurred in the United States annually.
During this period, a total of 196,325,000 to 324,325,000 chemical abortions wiped out the equivalent of the entire United States population!
Knowing this, all Christian denominations did not allow the use of contraceptives until 1930. Sadly, powerful lawyers with large funding from the contraceptive-abortion industry, over years broke down those religious barriers. In her article, Contraceptives, WHY NOT? Dr. Janet Smith goes to the heart of the matter -- telling why the Catholic Church says that contraception is one of the worst inventions of our time and continues to say "NO". Pope John Paul II was loved by the youth, because he too explained why and helped them to understand. They are mature enough to listen and act accordingly -- he knew it and they loved him.
Oral or internally planted contraceptives are called artificial or unnatural because they utilize artificial hormones that go against nature. -- in some cases, permanently damage female functions. Think about it -- using artificial hormones is like eating artificial vitamins or food.
Now, you are totally at the mercy of the producer to copy nature exactly.
The artificial hormones in contraceptives do not copy nature exactly. The oral contraceptive includes a combination of a synthetic and active estrogen-like compound, and a synthetic and orally active progestational compound. These ingredients mimic natural estrogen and progesterone, but not fully. They only perform the necessary function of contraception and abortion, and do not perform other functions required by the body to be healthy. Some damage, such as infertility, can be permanent. Because of contraceptives, many run the risk of suffering these symptoms within a year :
a propensity for depression
a reduced libido (with a reduced sense of well-being, female confidence, and desire for sexual intimacy)
For these reasons, 50% or more of the girls on the pill stop taking it after a year. And, another 50% stop because they got pregnant by accident -- when the pill did not work (to stop fertilization or to prevent the embryo from implanting). Additionally, the pill tends to thin out the lining of the uterus, which makes the female more prone to STD's!
Unfortunately females are not told about this when prescribed these drugs by doctors or clinics.
Note: I took a female reproductive course, the Creighton Model, and the doctors who taught it said that they were not taught much about the processes within the female reproductive system in their medical programs; just as they are not taught about vitamins and health foods. They just do not know these things. You should find a doctor who is also aCreighton Model Practitioner and knows NaProTechnology Technology. This is an advanced technology that can tell you see through all the contraceptive hype, but also help you to cure any female problems using natural methods -- such as PMS, Infertility, cramps, extensive bleeding. These methods do not disturb the natural processes of your body or your libido -- processes that LET YOU BE YOU!!! These doctors are scattered throughout the US. We have several on the east coast of USA -- listed at the bottom of thePregnancy Care Center page.
4) Contraceptives DO NOT Protect Against the Over 25 Major STD's!
Many people do not realize this. Here are just some statistical highlights:
More than 65 million Americans have an incurable STD (1 in 5 Americans)
2/3’s of those with STD's are 25 years or younger.
In 2006 more women died of STD related cancer deaths called human papilloma virus (HPV) than died of AIDS! (6.2 million new cases annually).
Incurable diseases include viral STD's such as herpes, HIV/AIDS and human papilloma virus (HPV) (Pap smear test).
At least 1 of 4 Americans have genital herpes
You can get HIV and herpes with a condom .
You can get Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Genital Herpes from all contraceptives including oral sex.
Syphilis and other STD's can make you more susceptible to HIV , or ruin your life without HIV..
Some lubricants break down latex condoms .
Birth control pills give NO protection! against STD's
54% of the time, contraceptives also result in pregnancies as well as STD’s
At least 15% of all infertile American women are infertile because of tubule damage caused by a pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) gone undetected.
Some people become infected with HIV the first time they get infected fluid in their bodies.
You cannot tell you are infected, even with HIV, by how you feel
You cannot tell if your partner is infected by how good they look.
40% of college men and 20% of college women will lie about their sexual histories in order to have sex. That includes whether they have an STD, HIV, have intimate with a person of the same sex, and how many partners they have had.
Some STD's reach can infect other parts of your body (such as your organs).
It is not true that everyone is doing it -- four out of 5 teens under age 16 have never had sex.
A girl can get pregnancy even if she has never had a period. The menstrual cycle begins before the period.
In addition: Early Sex (Females Under 17) -- Substantially increases risks for cervical cancer: For example, in adolescent, an area of the cervix, which is still maturing and undergoing changes, is most susceptible to STD's and especially the human papilloma virus. It can be influenced by the virus to initiate neoplastic change.
Multiple sexual partners increases the risk of exposure to HPV further and add complications of easier attack by STD's.
Promiscuity of a male partner is also an additional risk factor. Dr C. Everett Kop, M.D. confirms what you have probably heard from many other sources,
“When you have sex with someone, you are having sex with everyone they have had sex with for the last 10 years, and everyone they and their partners have had sex with for the last 10 years" .
5) Some of the Most Dangerous STDS-- NO SYMPTOMS!
For example, consider the
human papilloma virus - HPV .
HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases (STD's).
About 75% - 90% of all people who have sex are likely to get HPV at some point in their lives.
About 6 million Americans get HPV every year.
It is a large family of viruses that infect the skin, often causing irregular cell growth or warts. There are over 100 types of HPV.
Many infect the genital area (vulva, vagina, cervix, rectum, anus, penis or scrotum). Some types (low risk HPV) can cause genital warts.
Other types (high risk HPV) can lead to cervical cancer and other less common cancers in both men and women.
HPV spreads fast -- during vaginal or anal sex when the infected skin of one person rubs against the skin of the other person. Though, the risk from oral sex is very low and casual contact like hugging or kissing does not spread HPV, about 75% - 90% of all people who have sex are likely to get HPV at some point in their lives. About 6 million Americans get HPV every year.
The are often no symptoms!
Most people who get HPV never know they have it and become carriers. Most HPV infections cause no symptoms at all. HPV can stay inactive for weeks, months or even years before it might show up on tests or cause symptoms. This definitely makes abstinence more attractive with a goal to abstain, and seek to marry someone who has also abstained.
Here's a dynamic video, "Sex Still Has a Price Tag" by Pam Stenzel on STDs and why abstinence is the only answer..
6) Contraceptives & Abortion -- outdated choices imposed by the 60's generations
Contraceptives gained acceptance by the 60's generation which was in total rebellion against any authority and religion. Authority is okay, we need some authority in our lives to encourage us to do the right thing when our desires would push us to do the wrong thing. This is why there are laws, rules, regulations, etc.
The parents that distribute contraceptives to their teen children are not well educated about them. and, the abortion-contraceptive industry, which is very deceptive with its advertising and messaging of glamour, freedom, and sex with a worry-free life, do not help parents to become educated on their products. For example, most of these parents do not know that the pill is:
less than 95-98% effective as advertised for many reasons (sometimes as little as 70% effective) -- read the rest of this page
can cause damage to a woman's mind and body
prolonged use can increase risks of cancers, permanent infertility or repeated miscarriage
does not protect against STD's
abortion kills a grandchild
The good news is that today's new generation of teen parents are more informed and over 94% want abstinence for their children and are able to teach their children the truth. This generation of parents is not so easily fooled, know how to surf the Internet, and are generally well educated on the subject.
The other good news is that through the Internet,
most university students, young career people, and even high school students, have a means to readily find the truth -- and are seeking it. The young adults all over the world are learning the truth through wonderful sites, many of which are linked to from this site, such as "One More Soul". These sites are teaching:
damage done to females and males through contraceptives and abortion
rediscovering through science the role of God, the theology of the body (the value in giving of one's self in true spiritual love)
placing a renewed importance on traditional and life-long marriage.
And today's young adults are working politically to change the old systems of the 60's.
take a look at this Protest Leaflet -- by the Society for the Protection of the Unborn -- calling for an end to abortion and requesting action from people in the UK where, like America, about 4,000 babies are murdered through abortion each day; over 1.4 million a year!
investigate the pro-life groups in many of CT universities also fighting the pro-life, abstinence battle
visit the March for Life in Washington D.C., in January, where over 200,000 youth show up to support pro-life.
These groups represent the start of a new attitude in the US and world which will grow because it brings peace and joy to those involved.
Notice that Pro-life does not support the use of contraceptives -- which promote fake-love and do not enhance marriage. Unfortunately, you do not hear much about this. The media rarely covers it or covers it well. Yet, this is what truly represents the new movements of young adults today.
Because abstinence, is becoming
a new and respected lifestyle, wherever you are, you should be able to find young adults your own age who are like minded (or teens if you are a teen).. Statistics show that when females and males of all ages are helped to realize the religious truth or the risks and downsides of taking contraceptives, 80-95% or more repeatedly opt to abstain!!!
Review your lifestyle and seriously consider how you can start changing and updating it, little by little. Implement a new way of living -- not based on false promises of glamour, that involve fake love -- that is so out of date -- but based on a embrace of reality, personal empowerment, and real love. The new slogan is "Embrace the Reality" -- "No More Lies, No More Hype".
The pill performs several functions. It blocks the release of eggs from ovaries . when this fails, it also works to prevent the implantation of the fertilized egg ( embryo or conceived baby) in the uterus. This prevents the embryo from being nourished, kills the embryo, and results in a chemical abortion . And so it is an abortifacient.
Postponing Pregnancy: Reports that it is 95% to 99% effective at preventing pregnancy -- omit key information:There are many variables that can decrease the effectiveness of the pill. For example, the Mayo Clinic says that you must be “taking your birth control pills exactly as directed" and that the effectiveness of the pill can be decreased especially if you miss a dose — and even more if you miss several doses — during a cycle). The Mayo clinic also shares that effectiveness is further decreased if you are taking some of the antibiotics known to decrease the power birth control pills such as tetracycline derivatives, rifampin, and penicillin.
Medical risks: Offered by the Mayo Clinic include :
Cancer: “Significant scientific evidence" exists that prolonged use of birth control pills increases your risk of some cancers, such as cervical cancer and liver cancer”. In addition, in 2006 the Mayo Clinic stated there is a “measurable and statistically significant” connection between the pill and pre-menopausal breast cancer -- re-enforcing the classification of oral contraceptives as Type 1 carcinogens by the International Agency for Cancer Research .
Stroke, blood clots and heart attack:“Birth control pills can affect cholesterol levels and contribute to hardening of the arteries” -- a well-known cause of stroke and heart attack. “How much of an effect depends on the type of pill you're taking and what concentration of progestin and estrogen it contains”. For example, the progestin in birth control pills causes a decrease in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels (the "good" cholesterol), an increase in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels (the "bad" cholesterol) .
High Blood Pressure: The Mayo Clinic says that “Birth control pills may increase blood pressure”…, and “risk increases with duration of use and age.” They suggest that If you take birth control pills, have your blood pressure checked regularly, and if you have HBP or develop it while on the pill, that you see a doctor and seriously consider getting off the pill .
Cardiovascular disease - higher for smokers: “Birth control pills aren't recommended for women over age 35 who smoke since the pill increases the risk of cardiovascular disease (hardening of the arteries and high blood pressure) .
Breast cancer: Chris Kahlenborn, M.D. In this article, Cancer Risk from The Pill, Dr. Kahlenborn, first reviews the reason for the link between breast cancer and the pill, and then reviews some shocking statistics about the link between taking the pill for a period of time and risk of breast cancer. For example, he shows that women who use the pill for 4 or more years before their first full-term pregnancy had a 72% increased risk of developing breast cancer. He shares that breast cancer is the worldwide leading cancer in women and is the most common cause of cancer death in US women age 20-59. In the US, every year about 175,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 43,000 die.
groups especially at high risk are young women who have never given birth (because taking a pregnancy to term sometimes protects against breast cancer).
Angela Lanfranchi, M.D., and Joel Brind, Ph.D: Breast Cancer Risks and Prevention, Chapter 3 offers a great understanding of what cancer carcinogens and promoters are, and how they operate in breast cancer. Chapter 4 explains how estrogen causes cancer and why it is a "recognized carcinogen" in your body. In the last paragraph, just above the summary, the doctors write that birth control pills, injections, vaginal rings and patches, and hormone beverages you drink, the more impaired your liver becomes in its ability to eliminate (metabolize) estrogen in your body. That is why regular alcohol consumption increases breast cancer risk in direct proportion to the amount of alcohol you drink.
Breast Cancer Prevention Institute:Breast Cancer: Risks and Prevention is a booklet written to help women understand what their risk factors are for the development of breast cancer and how they can reduce them. It shares some of the same information in the article above.
Beware - if you read anywhere that the birth control pill increases a woman's risk for cancers of the breast, cervix and liver, but it decreases risk of endometrial and ovarian cancers." The statement is promoted by the contraceptive industry. It is a half-truth (which is an untruth). While it is true that it can decrease endometrial and ovarian cancers, what they did not say is that there are other natural treatments that do the same thing. A woman does not have to take the pill for that and expose herself to cancers of the breast, cervix and liver. See the untruth here. No wonder some parents are fooled.
The Couple to Couple League, shares that an additional medical risk is infertility because the pill manipulates key female reproductive functions to the embryo from implanting in the uterus in ways that can become permanent (it does not just thicken the mucus that sperm must travel to in order to prevent sperm from reaching the egg as some pamphlets say). For example:
Progestin lowers the efficiency of the fallopian tubes and ability to propel eggs from the ovaries toward the uterus. This can cause the embryo not to reach the uterus in time to implant successfully. If the tubes are kept in a weakened state, for a prolonged period of time, due to taking the pill -- they may not bounce back.
Another reason involves the hormones that cause the corpus luteum to function inadequately, allowing the lining of the uterus to be shed before the embryo can implant.
And a third is that the pill and progestin-only mini pill cause the inner lining of the uterus to become thin and severely shriveled, unable to support implantation of the human embryo.
Lastly, the combination pill interrupts the release of pituitary hormones responsible for the release of eggs-- the process is call 'ovulation". When no eggs are released, the female is sterile.
The Couple to Couple League, is one of the Natural Family Planning organizations that use the latest science and technologies to heal fertility problems, as well as help married couples to plan for or prevent pregnancies the natural way that is 99% effective.
increased risk of contracting and transmitting HIV (the AIDS virus)
liver damage and dark spots on skin
other cancers (cervical and liver)
What Doctors ARE Taught
About the Pill?
Except for Creighton Model Practitioner who knows NaPro Technology, most doctors are unaware of the side effects and risks of the pill and other contraceptives. They automatically recommend them, including the pill, condoms and other barrier methods, and implanted devices because:
1) They were taught to do so in medical school. In the case of the pill, they were also taught to prescribe it for many other things beside pregnancy prevention -- such as female cramps and irregularities.
2) After doctors open their practice, they receive an abundance of wrong or biased information from other sources that they use to keep up with medical trends and data, such as:
articles and press releases from pharmaceutical that about their products, including contraceptives as well as from their distributors such (such as drug store chains and abortion clinics)
universities, medical associations, hospitals, and research centers that have prominent members of the abortion-contraceptive industry on their boards and receive funds from them. For over 20-30 years significant scientific studies and evidence on the high medical and STD risks have been denied and slandered by these groups.
educational institutions that receive funding or donations from pharmaceuticals
medical journals that sell advertising space to pharmaceuticals and distributors (such as drug store chains and abortion clinics)
Interestingly, this mirrors activity in the smoking industry not too many years ago when doctors actually recommended cigarette smoking for a ridiculous assortments of reasons from anxiety relief to making teeth stronger!
Barrier Methods: Risks
Condoms are a barrier methods of birth control because they put up a block to prevent the sperm from reaching and fertilizing the egg. In this, condoms have a high annual failure rate -- of 10-36% for protection against pregnancy, and they offer far less protection against all of the STD's named above.
Condoms that are not labeled for disease prevention may provide the least protection against STD's and should not be used for this purpose. When condoms burst inside the female, they expose her to higher doses of STD's, as do those have manufacturer defects or have become cracked due to storage in warm areas (such as wallets or glove compartments). Studies have shown that many cause allergic reactions, and latex condoms can break down in a matter of minutes if you use petroleum jelly (Vaseline), massage oils, vegetable shortening (Crisco), hand lotion or baby oil.
The National Institute of Health says only water-based lubricants should be used. Condoms lubricated with spermicides are no more effective than other lubricated condoms in protecting against the transmission of STD's. Findings disclose they may, themselves, cause genital lesions that could become a point of entry for HIV and other STD's.
The National Institute of Health also warns that while spermicides have been found to kill the HIV virus, they do not prevent a person from getting AIDS. See the HIV page for more information on HIV, AIDS and risks.
Condoms Do Not Prevent HIV Virus
Dr. CM Rowland, Ph.D., editor of the journal Rubber Chemistry and Technology, on why condoms are not a protection against acquiring the HIV virus. He shares "that electron micrographs (pictures taken with a very powerful microscope) reveal voids (holes) in the condom that are up to 50 times bigger than the HIV particle. The analogy would be that of throwing a marble at a tennis court fence and expecting it to stop the marble from going through." See the HIV page for further detail on HIV and AIDS.
Female barrier methods, like condoms, prevent the sperm from entering the cervix and reaching the egg. If the diaphragm is properly fitted, it is 84-94% effective at preventing pregnancy. Studies in Canada show a 12-18% failure rate.
The cervical cap is 84 to 91% effective if you have not had a child, and only 68 to 74% if you have had a child. The cervical shield is 85% effective. Barriers methods must be left in place for up to 8 hours after intercourse to prevent pregnancy and removed by 24 hours for the diaphragm and 48 for the cap and shield. They offer no protection against STD's or HIV.
The Contraceptive Sponge, uses the spermicide nonoxynol-9 to prevent pregnancy and is 84-91% effective if you have not had a child and a low 68-80% if you have had a child. It too must be left in after intercourse for at least 6 hours. Complications could include Toxic Shock syndrome if left in for more than 30 hours. There is no protection against STD's or HIV.
Possible Side Effects:
allergy to rubber or spermicide
urinary tract infections
recurrent yeast infections
toxic shock syndrome (if left in place more than a total of 24 hours)
female on top during sex may cause the diaphragm to be dislodged.
can be up to 94-97% effective. However, they can slip out of place and become ineffective at any time without warning or symptom. Studies show this happens 10% of the time and is a major reason for failure rates.
Progestasert IUD: Causes the cervical mucus to thicken so sperm cannot reach the egg and it changes the lining of the uterus so that a fertilized egg cannot successfully implant (causing the death of a fertilized egg – human – and an early abortion, which is why it is called an abortifacient mechanism). You will need to visit your doctor to have it inserted and go back for weekly to monthly checkups to make sure the device does not reposition itself, or if you are having any complications which can include severe menstrual cramps, heavy periods, inflammations, pelvic infections, and bacterial vaginosis (BV) - an imbalance of the vaginal bacteria with the persistent symptoms of discharge, burning and itching.
Copper T IUD: is a device that can stay in the uterus for up to 12 years. It too prevents fertilization and is an abortifacient. It needs to be monitored closely by a doctor for positioning, and complications -- similar to the Progestasert IUD.
Signs the IUD has repositioned or fallen out :
unusual vaginal discharge
cramping or pain
spotting between periods
spotting after intercourse
painful sex for male or female (can feel the plastic of IUD in the vagina)
strings are either missing, shorter or longer
A missed period may be the 1st sign of a "silent" expulsion
Signs of Infection :
abnormal spotting or bleeding
pain with intercourse
unusual discharge or odor
fever, dizziness, and chills
Infection is the cause of most IUD complications - associated hospitalizations and deaths. IUD users are 2 to 18 times more likely to require hospitalization for PID than women using no contraception. Infection rates are highest among women at high risk for PID -- including young women with multiple sexual partners in areas where STD rates are high.
IUD infection can occur without any obvious sign of systemic sepsis and without fever. Symptoms, such as abnormal discharge, bleeding or pelvic pain should be treated as infection until proved otherwise. Unusual spotting or cramping may represent pregnancy or mild infection.
The progestin-type of IUDs generally lead to hypomenorrhea.
IUD Expulsion (Contributes to Failure Rate) -- "Between 5 and 20% of users expel the IUD within the first year of use" : Symptoms include unusual vaginal discharge, cramping or pain, spotting, dyspareunia, lengthening of the IUD strings, and feeling the plastic of the iUD,
Difficult Removal of IUDs -- In older IUDs, the string may pull off or the IUD may not move from its position indicating it may be partially embedded...narrow packing forceps may be used to grab the end of the IUD -- sometimes a paracervical block and cervical dilation may be necessary. If this is unsuccessful, an IUD hook may be used inside the cavity" ... the author continues to provide other more gruesome ways to dislodge a stuck IUD or embedded device.
Whenever pregnancy occurs in an IUD user, the probability of ectopic pregnancy must be carefully evaluated.
IUDs offer no protection against HIV. For more information, see the HIV page.
The STD's referred to
include Chlamydia, human papilloma virus, herpes,
hepatitis, gonorrhea, syphilis, and AIDS.
No protection at all - NONE - against pregnancy or STD's. This has the highest failure rate for pregnancy. Insertion alone deposits sperm that will travel.
Protection against STD's is also – NONE. That includes AIDS, Chlamydia, herpes, HPV genital warts or other more serious problems, gonorrhea and syphilis (all on the rise now).
Hormonal Vaginal Contraceptive Ring
NuvaRing is obtain from a doctor who gives a prescription. It releases the hormones progestin and estrogen. You wear the ring for a period of time (3 weeks), take it out (for1 week -- when you have your period), and then put in a new ring. It is 98 to 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. It introduces the same artificial hormones as the pill.
This is a T-shaped device that is placed inside the uterus by a doctor and can remain there for up to 5 years. It's reliability is dependent on its ability to consistently release small amount of a hormone similar to progesterone called levonorgestrel that causes the cervical mucus to thicken so sperm cannot reach the egg. It may also be an abortifacient. It does not protect against STD's or HIV. You will need to visit your doctor to have it inserted and to be checked regularly to make sure it is working and you are not having any problems such as infection. Not all doctors insert the IUS. Not all doctors will examine an IUS they did not put in (for fear of law suits if they misjudge and their are complications later).
Morning After Pill (Plan B) for Victims of Rape (also used if a condom breaks)
This is emergency contraception consisting of taking two doses of pills, 12 hours apart and started within three days after having unprotected sex or rape. It prevents the sperm from uniting with the egg, but also is designed to prevent the implantation of any possibly conceived baby from happening; it is an abortifacient. Reliability is only 79 to 89%. Symptoms: Nausea, vomiting, headache, breast soreness, fatigue, abdominal pain, dizziness, bleeding, severe bleeding. There is no protection against STD's, HPV, or HIV.
Leaking or painful breasts, acne, depression, prolonged heavy and irregular menses or absence of periods, ovarian cysts, infection where rods are inserted, weight gain. This offers no protection against STD's and HIV
Progestin-only mini pill
Similar to the pill, except it does not suppress ovulation (release of an egg).
Hormone Shots (such as Lunelle or Depo-Provera)
Same as the Pill – see above -- especially including cancers, prolonged infertility, irregular menses, osteoporosis, weight gain, depression, heart attacks, liver tumors, and death. The shots do not protect against STD's or HIV.
While RU-486 prevents the sperm from uniting with the egg, it was also designed to prevent the implantation of any possibly conceived baby from happening; it is an abortifacient. Symptoms include severe bleeding listen to the Jenny Story on the Home Page), cramping, nausea, vomiting, and can cause an incompleted abortion which may require Hysterotomy. For a definition, see the www.nyrighttolife.org scroll down to third trimester. Ru-486 does not protect against STD's or HIV.
Kill sperm. Methods using spermicides are 75-99% effective at preventing pregnancy. However, increases incidences of congenital disorders in children conceived with uring use, vaginal irritations and infections, and allergic reactions in men and women.
They offer no protection against STD's, HPV or HIV. See the HIV Page for detail.
Female or male sterilization*
Sterilization severs the pathways that the sperm or egg travel to each other. They do so in a way that violates the body – impedes other body processes and can cause complications.
The CCLI.org site calls it self mutilation. The sad part, is they are not 100% effective – NONE of them. The only thing that is 100% is abstinence. Some are reversible .
But in 70% of women, the fallopian tubes become too damaged. (They are used by the body for other purposes such as providing blood supply to the ovaries). When tied, the tubes and ovaries become stressed which may contribute to some of the symptoms women experience, such as greater pain, cramps, etc. There are complications in 22-33% of women.
Increased risk of prostate cancer, autoimmune diseases and regret. No protection against STD's or HIV..
Female sterilization – tubal ligation*
There are two methods. Minilaparotomy involves tieing the fallopian tubes. In laparoscopy, a fiber light is inserted and an instrument either coagulates the tubes with a current or places a clip on them. Symptoms: The Increased risk of ectopic pregnancy, (pregnancy outside the uterus), painful menses, very heavy periods, more severe cramps, longer periods, increased menstrual pain, pelvic pain or pressure, regrets (40%), surgical risk of infection and injury to other organs. Sterilization does not protect against STD's, HPV, or HIV. Plus, there is an increased risk of cervical cancer of 3.5 times. For these reasons, many couples try to have the process reversed. Some have a hysterectomy to eliminate symptoms. In the past decade, 2/3 of sterilizations are females. Some are coerced.
Hormonal Patch Ortho Evra)
This is a skin patch involving the release of estrogen and progestin, worn for 3 weeks and taken off the 4th week to have a period. You will have to get a prescription and have you doctor monitor you for side effects similar to the pill, including a higher risk of cancers, breast cancer, heart attack, blood clots, and stroke. It is also less effective for women who are approximately 198 lbs and does not protect against STD's. HPV, or HIV.
Information on Sterilizations
If you are interested in learning how some sterilizations might be reversed, go to: http://www.omsoul.com ….
then, click on NFP directory.
Condoms do not prevent STD's. This is especially true for STD's (such as human Papilloma virus, chlamydia, herpes, and syphilis) transmitted by bacterial or viral germs do not infect just one place on your body. They may be transferred skin to skin, and infect anywhere in the male or female genital areas.
Phyllis A. Balch, in her book, "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" says, in the section on AIDS, that the only truly safe sex is sex between life partners who are HIV-free. Other than that, abstinence is the only way to avoid any chance of infection with an STD.
Changing partners particularly puts one at risk, and any exchange of bodily fluids is theoretically risky. A recent report claims that HIV can even be contracted through kissing if you have gum disease.
To sum up, listen to the below audio. Follow the advice of the young girl at the end. There ARE other alternatives.
It is hoped that enough of the essential information on the risks of contraceptives has been provided to enable you to re-evaluate your approach to sex at this time in your life and to seriously consider abstinence for your health and the safety of future pregnancies.
If you are young and single, we will hope you will consider Abstinence & Chastity -- which can be a new way to proceed in life, away from danger and hardship -- and toward health, strength, and high confidence in your own inner capabilities......If not for now, seriously consider it for the near future.
To help you seriously think about or plan to do Abstinence & Chastity, we have devoted a whole section to it called "Abstinence / Chastity". This section also provides links to terrific Abstinence & Chastity Web sites. You may be pleasantly surprised to see how easily a change in path can happen for you -- from having sex as a normal part of your relationships to abstinence. Seriously visualize how you would adjust your relationships -- so that sex becomes less important and eventually is not an issue.
Still another section, called "Test Your Relationships", is provided to give you tools to use to sincerely evaluate your relationships, particularly with boyfriends, fiances and spouses, and then to team with your peers to create fun chastity and abstinence groups. You will enjoy this section and come away with some new ideas, some of which you may be able to use immediately, others later as you slowly re-shape your life.

Especially If What You Really Want
Romance with contraceptives does not last -- it ultimately looses its sweetness and leads to emptiness and bitterness. Contraceptives were thought to help speed up this process by reducing a woman's libido. Now, through experiments like the one below, we may be able to observe it and view the damage that a reduced libido can do to a previously healthy relationship. Read the below.
Dr. Janet Smith - Discusses Why Men May be Less Attracted to Women on the Pill!!!!
She starts out talking about experiments with male monkeys and how their normal high attractions toward female monkeys dwindles to near nothing when the same females are given contraceptives; some of them even started showing a preference for male monkeys.
Experiments like this are new, but they may be a way to prove something we all know instinctively -- that a deep "attraction" to females is not necessarily because of the beauty or sex appeal of the female (as cosmetic advertisers try to convince us), but is really about the presence of natural (real) hormones or fertility which successfully trigger necessary body chemistries that directly attract males as well as indirectly through her inner sense of "well being", confidence, warmth, joy, energy levels, etc.-- which genuinely interest and attract men.
Real romance CAN BE THERE FOR YOU and in a wonderfully real and lasting way -- with abstinence & chastity.
There are so many couples who together abstain and wait for marriage. imagine the high romance that they share! If you do this, you will have the benefit of real romances plus.... you will see that the peace and joy that comes is truly worth more than passing pleasures.
God Bless You!
