Thinking about Aborting?

See the below video.  It discloses some raw truth.

Consider investigating adoption, which is becoming very popular as an alternative. It is a win-win for you and your baby.

Eduardo Versastegui

Go to this link http://www.abortiontruths.net/  to see a video by actor/producer Eduardo Versastegui who speaks out against abortion. He asks you not to be a victim of this industry.  Abortion has many risks for you and it exposes your baby to a torturous death – to prove this, he shows photos of aborted babies.  Eduardo also produced and promoted the movie Bella, which recommends adoption as a better alternative.  Hear what he has to say about it on the adoption page of this site.

Adoption does not make the abortion industry money, it is their competition. So, that industry has put alot of bad press out on the Internet about it. Do not believe their lies. The adoption process is easy and trustworthy -- they are not killing your baby and instead helping you to place it in a home that can give it the love and home you would want for it. It is a win-win option for you and your baby, and advisors at pregnancy care centers would be happy to help you through the process along with the an advisors from the adoption agency. Read about it.

Eduardo says, in the talking part of his video, that “Abortion is legal only because there is not enough men and women to speak out against it.”  The older 1960’s generation has been quiet on this issue.  You need to find the courage to do the right thing on your own.

Is This Really Your Decision?

There is so much pro-abortion press on the Internet and in social media. Has any of this influenced you? How involved are your parents or boyfriend in your gravitation to an abortion decision.

To come to grips with this -- let’s first read some case studies.

Rocker Steven Tyler of Aerosmith

Rocker Steven Tyler and his girl friend were both convinced by friends and business partners to abort their baby -- they were told it would not be good for his career. He shared with LifeNews that he has regreted it ever since. Read his story. Read some quotes about the great sadness and troubles afterward. Maybe you have seen this with some of your friends who have had abortions.

More cases:  http://www.gargaro.com/

As you read these stories, remember that abortion is an industry worth hundreds of millions of dollars each year.  As you saw in the above video, the abortion industry has financial incentives to promote lots of sexual activity, amoung the youth and young adults, to increase the numbers of unexpected pregnancies per single person, and therefore the numbers of abortions.

Simultaneously, thousands of dollars are spent in promotional campaigns to discourage young moms from considering adoption or having the baby. They make having an abortion sound like the natura, smart, and even sophisticated thing to do. Now really - what is so sophisticated about killing a baby? They also advertise messages saying it is safe, a quick fix, and that your baby is just a blob of flesh or bunch of cells - not conscious yet.

But, the truth is, It is not safe, there are complications - sometimes for a lifetime, and the baby is a baby, who at 18 weeks, actually knows its mother by her voice, feels protected by its mother, shows displeasure in its facial expressions when the mother eats something bitter, and feels more pain than adults because there are more nerve cells per square inch of flesh. Your baby may feel the abortion. Some ultrasounds of abortions show the baby trying to move away from the suction tubes or clamps that will pull it apart.

The abortion industry also promotes the myth that most females decide to have abortions because they are "independent women" who are still going to school or have careers, and wish to defer having a child.  This is not true. Typically, the "independent woman"  is more educated on the facts about abortion. She will have her baby, keep it, or place the baby for adoption -- rather than go through an abortion, with great physical and mental risks to herself or kill her baby. She is in touch with what is right or wrong, and she has enough wisdom and grit to win over her parents or friends. She makes her way and others help her.

She has the courage, zest for life, and fortitude to do this.  Most are religious, to some degree, and give God credit for their strength.

Mothers who abort usually do so with great pain and difficulty -- it is not a casual, life-style decision.  Often, they are younger teens who have been brainwashed by the abortion industry which has escalated their presence in American schools and promotions of services.  Or, they have serious psychological, or abuse problems.  We discuss some of these further down on this page. The fact is......that......

Most Women Who Abort
Share They Really Wanted To Experience
Their Gro
wing Baby &
Gift It with Life!

Most women who aborted secretly longed to have their babies. If they had cooperation from their boyfriends, friends or parents, would have been willing to make the sacrifices necessary to place their babies for adoption or keep them -- would have been willing to do the extra work to coordinate schooling, jobs, and babysitters to keep their babies. Actual reports and studies of girls who work with pregnancy centers to keep their babies find more success in the world.

In fact, many say they found success "because of their babies".  They share that their babies caused them to put aside false hopes and stale dreams, to see reality, and get on with dealing with life in a more mature way. But this is not unusual.  Many parents, of all ages, say that when their baby came, they fell in love with it and suddenly found the inner resources to change their lives for the better. In Christian faiths, we believe that God personally participates in the creation of each child -- making each child unique -- and in His joy, He showers the child and parents with the extra graces or help where they need it. You do not have to be Christian for this to happen to you too.  (We discuss God's role thoroughly in the birth control section under the paragraph, "The Truth About Contraception".)

Treat yourself.  Discover this for yourself, visit several of the pregnancy centers here in CT, especially those listed in the middle of the Pregnancy Care Center page under "Hear Success Stories".  Make an appointment to meet some of the unwed mothers there who have had their babies and are doing well -- finished high school, got a college certificate, kept their jobs, are earning more than minimum wage, using pregnancy center babies sitters, using pregnancy center provided supplies, and carving a place for themselves and their baby in the world. After they learn to use the resources available and work out their schedules, they report that their child brings them the greatest joy. They will also tell you that this is what they experienced -- a new strength, courage, help, and unexpected assistance, about their renewed self-esteem, confidence, and a peace that overcomes old anxieties. These are wonderful stories. Stop for a moment, and experience this beautiful true-life story "Can I Live". in song by Nick Cannon and video that captures the true tragedy of abortion.  It is about a woman who went for an abortion and changed her mind last minute.  At the end, you see the real and grateful son, who was saved, and the happy mom, hugging.  A touching experience!  Here you go...

This next video was written by two teen brothers. It reveals something that is little realized in our world.  From the baby's early development in the womb, when it thinks in feelings and in the picture language God gives babies, it loves its mother and longs to know and love its mother outside the womb.  There is something else too, babies in the womb and out of the womb, naturally have a great deal of hope, clarity of thought, courage, and charity -- maybe because they are still very close to God.  They have a intense joy "just to be alive" and this extreme joy rubs off on their Mom even while the baby is in the womb.  It just transfers to the mom, just like any person's happiness or sadness can rub off -- even if they do not say a word.  But this is much more intense. There is no greater "high" in this world than to be one with your child in body and mind.  If you are thinking about abortion, think clearly about what you would be giving up.  Listen to the song in this video.

Now is a good time to disregard -- throw out -- any thoughts about your child making your life change for the worse.  These thoughts are influenced by -- you know, the ones who will make money from your abortion and the insurance industry that would rather pay for an abortion (which is just hundreds of dollars) than a birth (which costs thousands of dollars).  These industries are putting out the negative messages that exaggerate the trouble a baby will be and tell how it will destroy your life.  Listen to Alveda King!

Do not listen to those who poison minds about adoption, with garbage about what a terrible thing it is to have to go through nine months of pregnancy and then give your child up.  Guess what -- the nine months is shear joy!!!  You and baby are one in everything you do and you sense this. There is no other being you will ever be so close to in your entire life!  This is an experience of a life! Make the right choice for your spirit, your race and your God. And now adoption is open, which means you have your baby, you can help pick the parents, and it will have a better chance of being adopted -- while you are still pregnant with your baby  and you can stay in touch with you child throughout your child's life (see the story of a violently raped woman called "I Received Grace", who was poor, ashamed ...but turned it all around by deciding to place her baby for adoption). She says her daughter has helped her to heal, and has always brought her such joy. Do not let those industries who do not really care about you rob you of it this experience from God direct to you!.   Read and reread these messages. Tell your friends.  Here in CT and in most states too, wonderful support that is available from pregnancy care centers -- support that has helped unwed mothers to see beyond the lies, make a decision they can experience joy with, be outstandingly proud of themselves for (their heroes), and totally transform their lives for the better.

After their abortions, many complain that they were too rushed and did not have time to investigate alternatives -- to see and know the truth.  Do not let this happen to you. You are in control.  Keep your control.  Slow the people around you down.  Say "NO". Take time to consider all options including adoption. Investigate carefully and you decide.

At 12 weeks, the child is no
larger than a couple inches, but
is a fully formed person

 83% -- Sorry They Aborted [1]

Following are stories of girls who aborted and were sorry.  Several of the girls were told by other friends that having the baby is the easier choice – but they did not listen.  Some were physically or mentally threatened by parents, husbands or boyfriends or intimidated by peer pressure and circumstances.  Of the many stories out there, those presented in this section are more representative of the realities some girls experienced and did not deal with well. When you visit the pregnancy centers, you can talk with the unwed mothers there and find out how they managed these situations. Above all,  don’t believe the lies…you have time to work out an alternative to abortion -- a plan -- with a pregnancy volunteer that is entirely YOUR choice. "My husband gave me an ultimatum; get an abortion or he would leave".
"The sole parent’s pension was a pittance in those days, I felt I had no choice. … inside I was thinking, ‘Oh please don’t let this happen … Each night … I begged him, ‘Please don’t make me have an abortion. … why can’t I just have this baby?” – Zelda, in Giving Sorrow Words "My parents  ... told me to leave the house and forget that I was their daughter". "I left the house with no job, no money, no home and nowhere to turn, feeling utterly abandoned and alone. Still, I was certain I would not get an abortion. I wanted my child.  ... my father sent several messages urging me to have an abortion. I refused. But as I began to feel more desperate, I shut down my feelings ... functioning more like a surreal observer than someone in control.  ... No one explained to me the baby’s development or what the abortion would be like. ... I lay there just wishing that I could die." – Theresa Bonopartis  "My doctor said it was just tissue... [When I saw] the reassembled parts of my baby, they were tiny and perfect. This was my baby! Torn apart. … The terror of that moment is etched deeply in my soul. ... My doctor, the abortionist, the staff – all liars!"

GUATEMALA, February 16, 2009 (LifeSIteNews.com) - An eminent Spanish biologist and bioethicist, Dr. Natalia Lopez Moratalla -- when asked about women who want to have an abortion, Dr. Lopez Moratalla said that such women "are always pressured, because the father of the child has abandoned her or because she doesn't have the economic resources to care for it." She also told Prensa Libre that pregnancy is "positive for the health of the mother" and that abortions are fundamentally caused by societies dominated by "machismo."..... "Among the damages caused by abortion, are drug addiction and suicide," said Lopez Moratalla, who also listed "brain damage, like that suffered by war veterans or those who have had a dramatic accident. Emotional memory is blocked." She went on to explain, "This doesn't happen to all women, but those who suffer from it tend to have another abortion because they must return to the scene again and again."

As you read the stories, ask yourself....

  • Is this really my choice?
  • Would I want an abortion if my mom said she would bring up my baby?  Or, if she would help me bring up my baby? Would I want abortion if my boyfriend said he would marry me -- that he loved me and the baby and wanted us both?Am I getting too much pressure from others to do the expedient thing? Do they care about me or themselves? Are they more important than saving my baby?Could I have my baby if I relied more on the help from a pregnancy care center?  Could I enjoy this pregnancy if my friends and family supported my giving birth and keeping my baby or giving it up for adoption? Can a pregnancy care center substitute for them? What are my needs if I were to have my baby?  Medical?  Financial?  Place to live?  Job until I am 7 months?  Babysitting?  Pregnancy clothes? Can a Pregnancy Center help me with this? Which pregnancy center shall I visit.  Shall I make an appointment to talk with some of the girls there who have had their babies? Do I want one that I can live at? Will I put my baby up for adoption?  Can the pregnancy center help me with this too? What type of adoption do I want? Adoption is a heroic decision.  Can I do it?  Can I be proud of myself for doing this?
  • What is the best decision
    • For my heart? My future?
    • My heart and my future?

Read some more stories at   http://www.unfairchoice.info/unwanted.htm  Many of the people surrounding an unwed mother have a false impression that the embryo is not human and just a piece of flesh.  In their ignorance, they apply pressure to abort. They feel okay about what they are doing, because they have the backing of the masses of people who are also ignorant of the truth and, of course, the abortion industry. If you have an ongoing or serious abuse problem involving family, a boyfriend, and maybe drugs or alcohol too, take care of it now before you become a mother.  A good book to read is, "Ending the Cycle of Abuse" by Philip G. Ney, M.D. and Anna Peters.  It shares stories of women abused as children and the group therapy techniques that helped them heal. It shares that the various types of abuse, such as physical, verbal, neglect, and sexual, generally go together and can be difficult to self-heal. Often there are feelings of protest, guilt, shame, fear, and remorse which need to be reconciled. An approach might be to bring the book to a local psychologist or therapist and ask them to treat you according to the methods in the book.  It should be known by them. You might also show the book to your pregnancy center and invite the manager to help you.  Managers of pregnancy centers usually know of abuse centers and doctors. But beware.  Here and there you can find abuse centers that are aligned with the abortion industry. If you are an unwed mother, they may try to refer you to an abortion clinic.  Do not stick with that abuse center, and please tell the pregnancy care center. They are just being expedient and are not caring about the additional abuse and guilt you will suffer by getting an abortion. They are not for you.

A Piece of Flesh"?

Listen to a a survivor of a late term abortion, Gianna Jensen - she asks,

"What Choice Did I Have????"

Another survivor, Melissa Ohden asked, Why?

The abortion industry would have you believe that an abortion is merely the removal of nothing important -- just a zygote, fetus, or a blob of tissue. However, the more science is able to observe fetal development, the more overwhelming the evidence becomes that they are wrong!  Particularly with the advent of ultrasound technology, one cannot deny that abortion is the destruction of a little person, a human, rather than just a piece of tissue. The following are video ultrasounds of children at just 9 weeks.  The last is a set of twins!  Some of you shared your surprise that babies so young have such mobility and personality. For more ultrasound photos and videos, go to the Baby Development page

Below is a 4D ultrasound of a 24-week old baby provided to us by the BUMPS organization in the U.K.

Abortion Industry Fights Use of Ultrasounds because they
Show clearly that it is a Baby and not a Blob of Flesh

In response to ultrasounds, those in the abortion industry and politicians aligned with it 1) discourage pregnant patients who come in for abortions from seeing ultrasounds of their babies2)  reason that the babies we see in the ultrasounds do not yet have the human abilities of thinking and feeling.  Therefore, they are not really a human yet, and so it is okay to kill them through chemicals or surgery.   This is ridiculous!  We do not think or feel when we sleep -- does that mean we are not human?

Ultrasound Converts Doctor -- after he had done 10,000 abortions! Though reproached by the Catholic Church, they continue with these justifications and use them to kill babies at all stages of development including those who are 12-18 weeks -- who at this stage have fully developed nervous systems, with appropriate pathways to the brain, can think, can feel, and will experience terror, and have been seen in ultrasounds to move violently away from abortion instruments. Their tiny heart rate speeds up to about 200 beats/minute as the child senses mortal danger.  The child will feel all of the pains of its horrific abortion. (The video Silent Scream contains actual footage of such an abortion.)  When the young abortionist doctor -- who had already done close to 10,000 abortions in his young life -- saw this video.  He never again did an abortion ......

Break from Normal Abortion Procedures Shows Abortionist Doctor a Beating Heart  --
he stops after 48,000 Abortions!
Here is another fantastic story of a doctor's conversion.  Dr. Stojan Adasevic, a champion abortionist, stopped after having performed 48,000 abortions, approximately 35 per day!  He lived in communist Yugoslavia -- “The medical textbooks of the Communist regime said abortion was simply the removal of a blob of tissue,” the newspaper reported. “Ultrasounds allowing the fetus to be seen did not arrive until the 80s, but they did not change his opinion. Nevertheless, he began to have nightmares.”....Instead of removing the fetus piece by piece, he decided to chop it up and remove it as a mass. However, the baby’s heart came out still beating.

Adasevic realized then that he had killed a human being,” After this experience, Adasevic “told the hospital he would no longer perform abortions. Never before had a doctor in Communist Yugoslavia refused to do so.  They cut his salary in half, fired his daughter from her job, and did not allow his son to enter the university.”Adasevic became involved in the pro-life movement and was able to get Yugoslav television to air the film ‘The Silent Scream,’ by Doctor Bernard Nathanson, two times.”  "Science for the Unborn Human Life"  tells us that the baby actually feels more pain, at 18 weeks than you or I would because their skin and nerve cells are denser.  Yet, the abortion industry continues to justify killing these babies (calling it "choice" or "contemporary thinking"). They even use it to kill babies in the late second and third trimesters -- through surgical means or lethal injections -- or they use the "safety of the mother" justification where safety could be something as little as a headache. When these abortions do not succeed and the baby is actually born alive, it is left alone to die or helped to die.

Statistics on Why Women Abort

The “Abortion is the Un-Choice” organization gathered some statistics on why the 80% of the women aborted when they said would have preferred to keep their babies???  They said that they would have given birth if they'd had support and encouragement from family and friends. Here are some of the reasons and statistics [1].

  • 64% of women surveyed report being pressured by others into unwanted abortionsOver 80% said it’s unlikely they’d have aborted if others had supported them. 52% felt rushed, 54% unsure; yet 67% received no counseling.
  • 84% reported that they did not receive adequate counseling.
  • 79% were not informed about alternatives. 45% of men interviewed at abortion clinics recalled urging abortion (including 37% of married men).
  • In 95% of all cases the male partner played a central role in the decision.
  • Simply being pregnant places women at higher risk of being attacked.
  • A former abortion clinic security guard testified before the Massachusetts Legislature that women were routinely threatened and abused by the boyfriends and husbands who took them to the clinics to make sure they underwent their scheduled abortions
  • When the abortionist is involved in distributing or selling baby parts for scientific or medical research, neither the women or girls are told this. In many cases, a trusted pastor, physician, parent or counselor made the decision.
  • Fear.  Murder is the leading cause of death among pregnant women.

When his wife refused to abort, her husband jumped on her stomach until their baby died  It was Acts of violence like this that caused President Bush to pass the Unborn Victims of Violence Act or 2004. The significance of this act is that is recognizes the dangers to women associated with unscheduled pregnancies, and it recognizes the unborn baby as a human.

Marine Cpl. Cesar Laurean, wanted for the murder of a fellow Marine, was arrested in his native Mexico...accused of killing Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who was eight months pregnant Maria joined the Marine Corps in June 2006 and trained as a personnel clerk. "Maria has been a gift for her family and friends," her family said in a statement issued after her body was found. Sources: AP, CNN

If Coerced or In Danger

Work with your pregnancy center advisor to design a safe and healthy plan to manage the pressures on you. There are many, many ways such as spending less time with abusive parents or boyfriends, not confiding in abusive friends, avoiding authorities who will try to convince you to abort, arranging to continue school at home, etc.  Your advisor may also recommend you to a social worker for additional help.

Do you have a feeling that deciding to have the baby can be dangerous.  Do you sense that those who are coercing you are harboring great anger at this pregnancy and you.  If so, you may wish to remove yourself from these potential sources of danger.  It is very hard to think that someone who loves you could hurt you, and it is so emotionally upsetting to even consider it.  Let the thought enter your mind.

There are people who cannot take cope with too much disturbance to their normal daily routines, challenges in their life, or even just changes.  Most people do not like change, but they handle it.  The type of person that could be dangerous to you is one who cannot handle change --- gets thrown and feels like they are backed against a wall such as a husband who does not want the baby so much that he starts hitting you in the stomach – not hard at first, a boyfriend who becomes freaked out over the pregnancy – and starts acting uncharacteristically, a parent whose threats become frightening, etc.  These types of people have mental problems.  If they lash out at you, it is not because they do not love you – they do – but they cannot handle change.  They fear change more than they love you.  It is interesting that their mental problems could go undetected for many years, even a lifetime, as long as they are never called on to make a sudden and fast major change in their lives. You could be living with one and not know it. Talk to your advisor about it – perhaps she can find you a hosting home to live in while you are pregnant and for a year or so thereafter.  Some boyfriends and parents who are threats before the baby is born, change their attitudes when the baby comes.  However, most don’t.  It is sad that most late trimester abortions happen because the girls wait and wait for their boyfriends or parents to have a change of heart;  when they don't, she aborts. In most of these cases, the boyfriends ultimately leave their girlfriends, and more often leave rather immediately.  Test Your Relationship.   What do you think?

Think about this too -- how can either of you build a healthy relationship that is based on the destruction of your baby's life?  Your advisor may wish you to think about adoption -- a hard but winning solution for your own self-esteem and well-being -- as well as for your health.

Protecting Women

"Women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy also deserve unplanned joy"... says TV actress Patricia Heaton, an honorary chair person for Feminists for Life. Famous feminists, like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabet Cady Stanton, opposed abortion. Patricia said it is sad that the joy women should experience of being able to bring a baby into the world is struck by the violence of abortion.

Abortion -  Methods

Following are several sources of information to help you.  They each describe the types of abortion methods used at different stages of a baby's development.  Between them, you should arrive at a very complete understanding. For more detail on the development of a baby during various stages, see our baby development page.   Under "surgical" abortions, various types are discussed including late term.  Here is an older FOX interview with Jill Stanek who survived such an abortion.

 Life Site News - US:
This first source is a site that many educators and university students use, including those at Yale, Sacred Heart and UConn, here in CT, for trustworthy information on the various types of abortion and current event news about abortions.  It also gives an excellent explanation of birth control products that are abortifacients and how they work to cause abortions -- often without the knowledge of the many women who are taking them.Under "Surgical" abortions, partial birth abortions are defined.  Here is a video of Jill Stanek who survived a partial birth abortion.

National Right to Life - US:
This is a key United States source of abortion information and news for all states. Here in the USA, each state has a Right to Life organization.  They all use the National Right to Life organization as a main source of reliable abortion information, news, and action alerts. Information includes abortion statistics, such as the 48.5 million abortions done since 1973 when abortion was legalized and other statistics shown below. Note: Approximately 1/3 of our population has been killed by abortion. It also offers up to date information on the escalation or decline of abortions and illustrations of partial birth abortion, see the National Right to Life Crime of Crimes site.

Abortion in the United States - Statistics

There have been over 48 million abortions since 1973.

The annual number of abortions went from 744,600 in the first year of legalization, to a high of over 1.6 million in 1990.
There were over 3,500 abortions per day in 2003, 146 per hour, about one every 25 seconds. (Today, it is over 4,000 per day.) For every 1,000 live births, there were 312 abortions in 2003.

There were more that 148,000 second and third trimester abortions in 2003. In 2003, more children died from abortion than Americans died in the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, World Wars I and II, the Korean, Vietnam and Gulf Wars combined. A 2004 survey of women seeking abortions indicated that only about 7% of women cited typical “hard cases” (rape, incest, or some health concern with either the baby or the mother) as the primary reason they were seeking abortion. An April 2004 Zogby Poll found that 56% of respondents support legal abortion in only three or fewer circumstances: when the pregnancy results from rape or incest, or when it threatens the life of the mother. At an average cost of $372, the abortion business is a $400 million a year industry.

Nearly half of all abortions are obtained by women who have already had at least one abortion.

Society for the Protection of Unborn Children - UK:
This is a very comprehensive UK site, which also offers some information about voluntary and forced abortions in various parts of the world, such as China where they have had an off-again, on-again policy of only allowing one child per couple -- and they enforce it with threats of jail, home destruction, children murder, murder of other family members, and forced sterilizations. Who is imposing this on China?  Powerful foundations and billionaires who promote the abortion-contraceptive industry in the United States. The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children page also confirms what is being said in paragraphs below by informed doctors in the United States -- that abortion is not any safer for women today, now that it is legal in most parts of the globe, than it was when it was illegal.  The abortion-contraceptive industry has used "safety" as an excuse to legalize abortion, make more money, and kill off more of those races they think to be "inferior".  But, the procedures are not safer, operating environments (including most clinics) do not have the proper equipment to handle typical emergencies.  If there are problems, the patient must still be rushed to a hospital (ambulances are still not available as needed), and doctors in clinics and hospitals do not have proper tools to repeatedly avoid puncturing the uterus or surrounding organs of women, especially young girls or petite women with smaller organs.  Complicating this is the pressure on doctors to perform as many abortions as possible, bypassing necessary safety precautions (consider the Russian doctor who did 35 abortions a day) -- such as staying with a patient long enough after the abortion to make sure she is okay or that her bleeding afterward is not excessive -- before starting the next abortion. The abortion industry will claim that there are new rules in place to keep abortions safe. However, these rules are not enforced and so they are ignored.
Bottom line:  Abortion is still a high-risk procedure here and anywhere in the world -- including all forms of abortion -- surgical and chemical.   Here the testimony of Laura Smith's mother.  Laura died on the abortion table.  See an interview with Mrs. Smith here --

Risks of Abortion Methods

Physicians Speak Out
Found this one mega size document by Physicians for Life that in one place covers most of the risks of abortion in decent detail. This is definitely something to read before making any decisions.

Legal Abortions are Still As Risky As When Abortion was Illegal...Shocking news from Dr. McMillian, M.D.
Dr. McMilanIn her article, “How Safe is Abortion”, Beverly McMillan, M.D., who was the first woman to open an abortion clinic in 1975, honestly discusses the many risks in spite of the fact that abortion is now legal.  This article is worth a read at http://www.unfairchoice.info   At the very beginning, McMilan points out the most common, immediate, and short-term complications which “Include excessive bleeding, chronic and acute infections, intense pain, high fever, convulsions, shock, coma, incomplete removal of the baby or placenta (which can cause life-threatening infections and sterility), pelvic inflammatory disease, punctured or torn uterus, and even death”.

She continues that, “Abortion can also result in uterine scarring, a weakened cervix, blocked fallopian tubes (which can prevent future pregnancies), and other damage to reproductive organs that can make it difficult to conceive or carry a child to term in the future. This latent morbidity of abortion results in long-term and sometimes permanent damage”.  And that “Women who have had abortions also experience more ectopic (tubal) pregnancies*, infertility, hysterectomies (sometimes during the abortion when an organ is accidentally punctured) , stillbirths, miscarriages, and premature births (the leading cause of birth defects) than women who have not had abortions.  Abortion has also been linked to increased risks of developing breast, cervical, and uterine cancer” .Immediately thereafter, she addresses the issue of safety because abortion is now legal.  To our surprise, she says "now that abortion is legal, if a doctor makes a mistake and the mother is hurt, it is okay – all legal.  Whereas when abortion was illegal, doctors had to be more careful because a mistake (such as excessive bleeding and trip to the hospital could expose his illegal practice).  Today, they are not as careful and do abortions assembly line style. "If you are considering an abortion or know of someone else who is, please get answers to these questions provided here at the Physicians For Life site.  You have a right to know the answers.

Abortions are A Major Procedure -- Dr. Westhoff, M.D.
Dr. Westhoff, OB/GYN Carolyn Westhoff, MD,  a  professor at Columbia Unv Medical Center in New York, in an article by Myrle Croasdale, at the American Medical News site, Oct 24/31, 05, at http://www.ama-assn.org/amednews/site/free/prsa1024.htm argues that “many believe there are adequately trained abortion OB/GYNs”.  But, said “general training does not cover abortions, only miscarriage dilation and curettage (D&C)” and that “abortion is very different”. "In a miscarriage, the body initiates the process and all related bodily functions are in position to cooperate with it.  For instance, most miscarriage patients are already dilated, while those seeking abortions are not”.   In an abortion, unlike a D& C, the doctor must artificially dilate the patient, and other bodily processes are not ready to support the abortion.  In fact, they are continuing full force to support all aspects of the child-bearing process.  The doctor must abruptly interrupt these – causing a disruptive shutdown which presents additional risks.  Yet, some doctors -- with only D&C training -- are terminating pregnancies.

Abortions -- Comparable to Well-Known Procedures
List Reviewed by Judith Mascolo, M.D.
The many risks of abortion come as a surprise to women who are not told the truth. The reality -- is that abortion is not just a simple D&C (as uninformed or unethical doctors say), but it is rather a major procedure. Abortion is comparable to the procedures shown in left column of the chart below and it carries the same level of risks.

Notice that the procedures in the left column are somewhat similar to abortion in that they too involve probing and removing something from the body -- with the risk of puncturing another organ, triggering extensive bleeding, or failing to remove all of the object (in the case of abortion, that would be parts of the baby's body or placenta): (This list was reviewed an approved by  Dr. Judith Mascolo, M.D, a Pro-life family doctor, practicing in Hartford, CT.)

For the procedures to the left, patients are given extensive counseling prior to the operation (not five minutes before it). Usually the patient is interviewed by a counselor and asked to sign a waiver stating that they understand all possible complications.  Generally, they are given time in terms of days to consider.  With abortions, abortion clinics rarely give any counseling, and when they do, it is rushed and biased in favor of promoting the abortion. See the below video. 84% of the women who have had abortions report they felt herded. If they had concerns, tried to ask any last minute questions or asked for extra time to review their decision, they were rushed to make a fast the decision and then rushed through the abortion process.  See the below video.

Similar Procedures

Similar Risks

  • Colonoscopy
    (with polyp removal or biopsy)
  • Prostate Transurethral Resection of the Prostate

    Gall Bladder Cholelithotomy

    Lung Bronchoscope Biopsy

    Kidney Stone Operations

    Weight-Loss Operations
  • Caesarean Section

An incomplete procedure (some part of the object to be removed may not be immediately or removed at all – such as a kidney stone or part of a baby)

Introduction of a severe infection

An allergic reaction

Puncture of an adjacent organ (such as the uterus)

Any of these may require transport to a hospital and conversion to an open operation such as a hysterotomy (similar to a Caesarean Section) or hysterectomy.

Excessive bleeding, may require a transfusion.

Any of these risks may also require a prolonged hospital stay, etc.

Some of these risks could be life threatening.

This comparison also applies to Ru-486.  According to a WebMD article, The bacterium Clostridium sordelli, which can also cause severe infection following childbirth or surgical is the same that can cause severe infection and even death. The difference is that with childbirth, women are in a proper hospital or mid-wife environment able to quickly recognize the infection and react instantly.  If the infection flares up at home, you have access to speedy medical attention and a hospital team that will pay attention to you. This is not the case when women receive RU-486.

In spite of the high risks, most teens and women were not helped to know about the many pregnancy care centers ready to assist them to have their child and keep it or put it up for adoption, and help with education, jobs and baby sitting. Millions of mothers needlessly suffer abortions and the killing of their babies every year. This is a crime by a corrupt industry and politicians.

RU-486 Abortion -- Great Risks
Unlike contraceptives, the RU-486 is typically used as an alternative to a medical abortion -- as an abortion drug used in early pregnancy to avoid a surgical abortion.

What it Does to You Many think that RU486 is better than a physical abortion, but as you read above, it has the same risks of deadly infection as any other major hospital surgery. My husband went into the hospital -- a very reputable hospital in New York -- to have a heart value operation with two other men.  Two of them got deadly infections.  One almost died and was in critical care for over three months.  I lent his son my laptop so he could continue to do his school work while keeping watch over his dad during those months. The other did die 2 days after the operation!  The infection spread very fast.  His family was shocked because in all other respects he was a healthy man and they thought he should have been able to fight the infection. My sister-in-law went in for the same type of operation, in another very reputable hospital on Long Island, and she got an infection 1 1/2 days after the operation which put her on life watch with bells ringing and lights going off all around her room and ten doctors around her for 5 hours - to save her life.  She was in good health too prior to the operation. But those were surgical operations where risk of deadly infection is well publicized -- this is not so with the morning after pill or RU-486. No one hears about these infections.  As a result, many do not think of these readily-available, non-surgical abortions as a potential killers.  For your info, check out this site.  Read some of the reports provided by Concerned Women of America.   Also, hear Jenny's Story.

Hear Jenny's Story
bottom right of Home Page

The reports provided from Concerned Women of America could lead you to believe that if you use RU 486 all you have to do is run to the doctor when you have excessive bleeding and everything will be put right.  That is a false perception. Based on inputs from Dr. Miech below, there may be no symptoms (you would just go into coma) or symptoms suddenly appear and then put you in a coma. We do not know how many women did not make it to the doctor!!!!  Avoid this.  If you have already taken the morning after or RU 486, run to the hospital with any unusual sensations!

Listen to Jenny's horrific experience  with the first chemical abortion -- the infection suddenly appeared, sending her into the bathroom where she started to bleed and vomit and would have died there, on her bathroom floor, were it not for her mother who found her unconscious.  With the second incident, the surgical abortion, she did have ongoing symptoms and warnings of infection.  She had terrible cramps and extensive bleeding (up to four weeks) with the possibility of going into a coma and bleeding to death.  She had to be rushed to emergency by her boyfriend's mother.  (The same boyfriend who forced her to have the abortion.  She never married that boy, by the way.)

Once, married, she had difficulties from the botched surgical abortion and resulting cervical cancer that developed.  All this caused scarring and threatened to prevent her from getting pregnant again and having children.

Also, read the below story from the magazine “Marie Claire”:  http://www.marieclaire.comA New York Times article, by Gardiner Harris, May 11, 2006, acknowledges worry about a “bacterial infection that led to the deaths of at least five women (4 in California and 1 in Colorado) who took the pill RU-486”.  The bacterium that caused the deaths was the Clostridium sordellii “which can cause toxic shock”. It is believed that a sixth woman, in Quebec, was also killed by this infection. http://www.sfgate.com

In exploring reasons for the deaths, the article says some experts believe that “Pregnant women who take RU-486 with another drug, misoprostol, are more vulnerable to infection”.

Dr. Ralph Miech, M.D.
Gives Reasons for RU-486 Deaths & High Risks

Dr. Ralph Miech, on the faculty of Brown University, a member of the Am Association of Pro-life OB/GYNs and involved with the National Catholic Bioethics Quarterly did some thorough research.  Read his excellent and easy to understand explanation of the likely causes of RU-486 deaths and high risks. He points out (read this for yourself or your friends): 1) RU-486 may cause the rapid onset of septic shock, a serious bloodstream condition that can lead to death. The Food and Drug Administration announced in mid-July that it was issuing a health advisory to inform the public that four California women have died from septic shock following abortions with RU-486, the latest one..2)  That the Mifeprex, the drug already has the FDA's highest-level black-box label warning, indicating that it is especially dangerous. In two of the cases, the bacterium that caused the septic shock was found to be Clostridium sordellii. 3) He says that " The FDA also updated its prescribing information, medication guide and patient agreement for RU-486 to convey information about Clostridium sordellii, a bacterium that is difficult to identify because the patient usually does not have a fever or other signs of infection".

Note: In the MedMD article the FDA warns patients to watch out for symptoms of nausea, vomiting, malaise, or other signs of infection for which antibiotics would be given to stave off possible serious bloodstream infection. But, based on what Dr. Miech said (that there is usually no fever or other signs of infection), I would not wait for the symptoms. If you feel anything different or even just tired, weak -- get to the hospital emergency room immediately.  Call ahead and let them know you are coming.

Because of excellent and logical explanations like this, the “United States, some abortionists have decided against using RU-486 altogether”.

Risks of the Abortion Process in CT
(from pregnancy detection to abortion)

Consider the following sampling of risks:

Many doctors do not have malpractice insurance.  If something went wrong, you would not be able to sue them.  What incentive do they have to be careful? Most do not give you unbiased or complete counseling (if any at all), but yet they require that you sign a waiver that would release all parties involved in the abortion (the doctor, nurses, other staff) from liability in case you are injured or killed. In an emergency requiring you be transported from the clinic to a hospital, most clinics lack the immediate availability of an ambulance to rush you to the hospital.  A wait of 20 minutes could be dangerous. Doctors performing abortions -- 1) may have had their licenses suspended or  2) may not be doctors at all. Though regulations on procedures and policies are written, they are not complete and rarely audited or enforced in their entirety. Parents, who are accustomed to checking out doctor credentials, emergency procedures, etc. are generally excluded from the process.  CT does not require parental notification.  Girls are encouraged not to tell their parents as they would not understand.. Boyfriends who are involved in the decision to abort 95% of the time [1] are allowed to participate in the aborting process -- to increase the chances that the girls go through with the abortion.[1].

In 2005, polls showed major support for parental notification by the people: 80% support.  CBS news - July 2005 - said 78%.  FOX News - April, 2005 - said, "Many people feel they can be pro-choice and in support of parental notification.  The two are not mutually exclusive." This has not yet been implemented in Connecticut.

The above risks suggest that the process itself adds extensive and life threatening risks.

The Abortion Link to Breast Cancer

Here is a selection of very reputable articles that are also easy to read and understand.Chris Kahlenborn, M.D.  His article, "Breast Cancer:  Its link to Abortion and the Birth Control Pill" is exceptional. It is one of those that other scientists and doctors refer to, yet easy to read and understand. Chris Kahlenborn. M.D.  This article, "Breast Cancer Risk from Abortion" discusses the link between breast cancer and abortion only. Breast Cancer Prevention Institute.  They offer several factual and informative booklet Fact Sheets, including Reproductive breast cancer risks and breast lobule maturation and the Scientific Developments Relating to the Effect of Abortion on Risk of Future Breast Cancer, Coalition on Abortion and Breast Cancer.  They offer a list of medical groups that recognize a link between abortion and breast cancer.   They say that "Telling women their abortions are related to increased breast cancer risk is clearly not good for cancer fundraising businesses, the abortion industry and the pharmaceutical industry. Medical groups whose doctors do not perform abortions or refer women for abortions will be among the first to recognize that abortion raises a woman's breast cancer risk.

Coalition Abortion/Breast Cancer - The article "The Corruption of Science by Ideology" offers an excellent article that blasts scientists and scientific writers who bend the truth to suit political or other gains.  They call it a creeping corruption.  It is just this type of corruption that has fooled parents in the past into thinking that contraceptives and abortion is okay.  This article is interesting to read.  It also clearly explains why there is a link between breast cancer and abortions -- see the last paragraph of this article. While at this site, scroll down to see the videos under the article "Breast Cancer Cover-Up..." Some women are suing their abortionists for not telling them about the link between breast cancer and abortion. Scroll further down and notice in the list of news releases an article about the Susan G. Komen Funding of Planned Parenthood -- . a major abortion clinic. In that article, the president,  Mrs. Malec , also outlines the grave injustices done to women who are not told about the link to breast cancer -- see below:

i) By delaying a first full term pregnancy (a risk recognized by all experts) the woman loses her chance to mature 85% of her cancer-susceptible breast lobules into fully cancer-resistant lobules at a younger age.  Full maturation of the lobules is a process that takes place throughout the last months of full term pregnancy. ii) Almost all of the childless woman's breast lobules are cancer-susceptible Type 1 and 2 lobules.  Up to 95% of all breast cancers arise in these lobules.  In a normal pregnancy, the breasts grow under the influence of an increased level of estrogen (a hormone and a cancer-causing agent), thereby causing the lobules to multiply.  The woman (who aborts before lobule maturation is completed) is left with more places in her breasts for cancers to start. iii) The Institute of Medicine lists abortion as a risk factor for premature birth. [2]  Research shows that premature birth before 32 weeks gestation increases the mother's breast cancer risk. [3,4,5,6] The biological reasons are the same as for the abortion-breast cancer link.  Through the abortion-premature birth link, the woman is left with more places in her breasts for cancers to start. In late October, an article in the National Catholic Register by Susan Wills of the USCCB charged that cancer groups have kept women in the dark about the risk of breast cancer due to hormonal contraceptive use and abortion. [2]  Similar accusations have been made in other medical journals. [3,4,5,6] The Diocese's decision is in line with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) 2007-2008 Respect Life Program, which includes an article explaining how abortion increases breast cancer risk and offering reasons why the evidence has been suppressed. [7]

Mrs. Malec said, "Komen perpetuates the breast cancer epidemic by giving funds to Planned Parenthood.  “As a seller of hormonal contraceptives and abortions, Planned Parenthood is a primary cause of the breast cancer epidemic.”

Dr. James Howenstine, M.D.  In his article, "Abortion Can Cause Breast Cancer", he shares his disdain for the media who have suppressed for many years the truth that having an abortion increase the risk of developing breast cancer. it is an older article, but worth the read to understand how totally suppressed truth can become when the forces that benefit from hiding it are large and well funded.

Why Some Parents Support Abortion

They Do Not Know.....

Most parents decide for abortion because they are uneducated on what abortion really is or its wide range of risks.  Were they permitted to be involved in the process, they would discover much along the way.  But, this is not the case in CT..  When parents are informed by their daughters, neither are given adequate counseling and the opportunity to investigate other choices. They are not informed of the many wonderful pregnancy care centers in CT and the full extent of services they offer. The pregnancy care centers we list on this site are run by sincere, dedicated volunteers who are available to assist teens and young women design alternatives to abortion that carry less risks and suit them (not their boyfriends).

If you have been investigating abortion for yourself or a friend, please inform the adults involved of the great pregnancy care centers here in CT -- and in other states too -- that offer many services to help make a birth possible and turn this experience into a positive. If you are exploring for yourself, investigate the centers and talk with the moms there as was suggested earlier.  Work with the center you select to outline a plan -- to get varieties of help that are all real and available now.  Please see the section:  Pregnancy Care Centers.

Help Us

If you have been helped by this site or just like what we are doing, please help us as soon as you can....  We need help putting copies of the below around schools, universities, in libraries, the post office -- anywhere you can think of.  We tried to create a design that unwed moms will notice, can relate to, and will get a feeling of peace from.  Please put it in places where it can do some good.  So many teens and students do not know about the pregnancy centers and that help is there for them. THANKS!

The goal.... is to blanket CT with them so that all unwed mothers will know that they have some real alternatives to abortion with a lot of help from caring volunteers. I have been pinning at least 10 (in one clump) in each place, and invariably, when I go back, some are gone!!! You should be able to paste two on one 8-1/2 x 11 page.  Then just copy.  Looks good in Black and White too.

Please do this one thing which can help wash away ignorance and give hope to other females.
